Appliance Repair in 10032 — Washington Heights and the Medical Center Blocks

A large share of 10032 households include someone working a rotating schedule at the medical center, and that changes what a useful appointment window looks like. The standard 8am-to-noon slot that suits most of the city is exactly when a night-shift nurse is asleep. The 1 train at 168th and the A and C at 168th and 175th mean a technician can reach the zip quickly without a vehicle, which matters on a diagnostic call where the part is likely already on hand. For jobs that need a full parts load we drive, and the practical constraint is the hill: the streets between Broadway and Riverside Drive climb steeply, and the block-long stretches around the hospital have restricted standing during the day.

Most of the buildings here are five- and six-story walk-ups or have small original elevators sized for passengers rather than freight. That is worth mentioning at booking if your appliance is on an upper floor, because a repair that requires pulling a machine out of a tight alcove and turning it in a narrow galley is a two-person job, and we would rather send two people the first time than send one and reschedule.
